A person who was known as Nightigale of India is Sarojini Naidu. She was also an Indian Indipendent activist and famous poet. She was born in the year 1879. She was born in Hyderabad. Her mother was a poetess and her father was a doctor. She used to write poetry in Bengali. She is the eldest one in his eight sibilings. She married Govindarajulu Naidu and she had five children. She began writing poet at the age of 13 and in 1905 her first collection -The Golden Threshold - was published. She is the first women to became the Governor of India and the second women to be the President of National Congress party in the year 1925. Great poet also activist.
Political Career of Sarojini Naidu-
Sarojini Naidu joined National movements in the year 1905. She became contact with the leaders Gapal Krishna Gokhale, Rabindranath Tagore,Annie Besant,Gandhiji and Nehruji. Her poems admired by politicians like Gokhale. She travelled to different different regions in India delivering lecture on social welfare. She also helped to establish Womens Indian Association in 1917. She was sent to London with Annie Besant, President of Home Rule League and Womens Association. In April 1947 she was present at the Asian Relations Conferrance in Delhi. Naidu entitled Muhammad Ali Zinnah -The Ambassadar of Hindu Muslim Unity. Not only a poet also a social leader.
Participations in Congress-
In 1925 Naidu presided over the annual session of Indian National Congress at Kanpur.
In 1929 Naidu presided over the East African Indian Congress in South Africa.
In 1931 Naidu participated in the Second Round Table Conference with Mahatma Gandhi and Madhan Mogan Malavia. She was jailed along with Mahatma Gandhi and Malaviya.
Naidu playing a leading role in the Civil Disobidient movement and jailed in 1942. Also she was arrested during the period of Quit India Movement. She was died 2nd Mach 1949.
