Rani Durgavati
Rani Durgavati or Durgavati Devi was an exemplary young ruler. In her entire life she was fought 51 wars against many invaders including Mughals three times. But never lost a single battle. Rani Durgavati Devi was born on October 5 in the year 1524. She was the family of Rajput Chandel Emperor Keerat Rai at Kalanjar Fort in Banda Uttar Pradesh. She was as the member of Chandel Dynasty. King Vidhyadar was the famous king of this dynasty and he built the historical temples of Kajurahuo and also the historical event of Kalinjar Fort. She was well versed in horse riding, sword fighting and archery from a very young age. She was very eager to play all activities of fighting movements. She was married Dalpat Shah in the year 1542. During that time Chandelas had continuous wars with Kalochuris who live near Jabalpur and the armies of the Delhi Sultanate.After the marriage of Rani Durgavati Devi with Dalpat Shah these small kingdoms had allies with Durgavati Devi.
Also she was powerful for Garha Mandla. These Garha Mandla was one of the kingdom of Gond Dynasty. In this Gond Dynasty the other kingdoms were Deogarh, Chanda and Kerla in central India. All these four kingdoms ruled under Gond Dynasty and as the ruler of Durgavati Devi. These dynastic alliance would help when Keerat Rai received help from the Gonds put up stiff resistance to Sher Shah Suri, the Afghan ruler of Delhi when he invaded the Kalinjar Foft in 1545 CE. Sher Shah Suri's reign was a short chapter in a period dominated by the Mughals but he left a impact lasting impact. Rani Durgavati Devi had a son named Vir Narayan. Dalpat Shah died in the year 1550. So Durgavati Devi became the ruler of the Gondwana Kingdom and moved the capital from Charugarh to Singorgath Fort. For this change then she defeated Malwa Sultan Baz Bahadur. Also such like many wars defeated by Durgavati Devi in her kingdom history. These victories were history records of this warrior queen.
In 1562 CE, Akbar defeated Baz Bahadur and brought the Malwa Region so that this can be under the rule of Mughal domination. After that Mughal General Asaf Khan conquered the region of Rewa and also Malwa were the rule of Rani Durgavti Devi. In 1564 Asaf Khan marched as a huge army to the region of Garha Mandla a region of Durgavadi Devi's kingdom. In this battle she moved to Narai Nala a hill range situated as one side for two rivers as Narmada and Gaur. Rani Durgavati Devi chased the Mughal Army and she became victory in that moment. The next day of this battle Mughals Army returned with huge army forces. But Rani bought with her troops on her elephant also her son help for fighting there. In this attack her son wounded seriously and taken to a secure place. In the other moment Rani Durgavati Devi attacked by Mughal forces with heavy attack. Two arrows attacked Rani as one of it to her ear and the other to her neck. She was seriously injured and she thought that she was captured by enemies. In that sudden moment she decided to kill herself. Durgavati Devi made suicide with her knife and killed herself. On the date of June 24 in the year 1564 she was killed herself.
Rani Durgavati Devi sacrificed her life to her nation. Unbelievable and memorable history events in records. Jhansi Rani, Velu Nachiar, Rani Chennamma, Rani Padmavati and Rani Durgavati Devi sacrificed their life to their mother country for their courage and confident activities.
