Kuyili
Kuyili was the first suicide bomber of India against British during freedom struggle. She was an army commander of queen Velu Nachiyar and revolutionary against British East India Company. She was born in 1700 at Kudanchavadi -Sivagangai district. Her parents Periyamuthan and Raku who worked in fields. She was a violent warrior who belonged to the sheduled caste of Arunthathiar. Kuyili found a special place in the heart of exiled queen because of brave,honest and sincere. In the war that took place in 1700 queen Velu Nachiyars husband killed by the British. To avenge her husbands death and to protect her kingdom from Britishers she built an army and fought with the support of Hyder Ali from Mysore kingdom. She also built a women regiment which was part of army according to Nappinai. This was the first womens army. The women where well trained and known for their bravery and discipline. Also they had great confidence for their work and sincere of that work. 
Despite their high prepardness Velu Nachiyars army and weapons were not match for the guns and weapons that British carried. Firing pistols and bombs are the Britishers weapons. Their guns could kill people from distance even before the compact began. Determined to protect her army in the battle Kuyili volunteered to destroyed the ammunition that the enemies had. The ammunition was stored in a temple only women were allowed to enter assuming that they were harmless. Using this prejudice to their advantage Kuyili accompanied by the fellow women warriors of her regiment entered the temple under the pretext of worshipping. At that time Navarathri festival celebrated there.Certainly all of the women carried lamps filled with oil and passed unnoticed. Once inside all the women came together and poured the oil and they brought on Kuyili. Drenched in oil Kuyili entered the store house filled with ammunition and set herself on fire. The weapens of Britishers destroyed. 
Velu Nachiyar won the battle against Britishers and Kuyili went to be the first women suicide bomber in history. Also she sacrifice her own life for Indias freedom struggle. In 2008 a postal stamp was released by Indian government for her memory. She played an important role in our Indian history. Salute to Kuyili and salute her sacrifice.
