Jatindra Nath Das was one of the freedom fighter that cause of death by hunger strike. His death made an achievement in history records. He was a Bengal Revolutionary. He was born on 1904, October 24 at Calcutta. He was also known as Jatin Das. He was a forced active Bengal revolutionary. In his early life he passed Matriculation and also Intermediate Examinations. He was studied in Vidyasagar College Calcutta. During that time he joined Anushilan Samiti in Bengal. Also he was fully involved the the Non-Co operation Movements of Mahatma Gandhi in the year 1921. He was at the age of 17 at that time. Also he studied BA in Bengal Basi College Cacutta. While studying in Vidyasagar College he was arrested by British Government because of his anti government activities. He was jailed in Mymenshingh Division of Bengal. In that jail he was having hunger strike that it is the poor punishment such as 20 days. Then he released. After he released from jail he joined Hindustan Republican Association [HRA]. In that Association he learnt about bomb making tricks for his activity.


One of the freedom fighter named Sachindra Nath Sanyal tought him about bomb making tricks. Sachindra Nath Sanyal was also an Indian revolutionary as the founder of Hindustan Republican Association and also the other revolutionary such as Chandra Sekar Azad. With the help of Sanyal and others Jatindra Nath fully involved the activities against British Government such like bomb making and using againts the government. On 14, June 1929 he was arrested by the police and imprisoned in Lahore Jail. As the Lahore Conspiracy Case other important revolutionary Bagat Singh and also Jatndra Nath put into jail because the murder of police officer J.P.Sundars. In this action Jatindra Nath Das and others began hunger strike with more revoutionary fighters. But in this punishment some of them treated better treatment and releaved the health condition. Jatindra Nath Das started his hunger strike on 13, July 1929. As of hungry strike food refused to give Jatindra Nath may be water to drink. Severe punishment by Britishers to this revolutionary about 63 days of his life. So his health condition deteriorated. But the government did not release on bail. 


The punishment of 63 days Jatindra Nath Das died on 13, September 1929. The body of Jatindra Nath recieved by peoples and also the other freedom fighters such as Subash Chandra Bose also. In this event there was a wide spread protest in the country following Jatindra Nath Das's death. For this death Jawaharlal Nehru gave his words,'Another name has been added to the long and splendid roll of Indian Martyrs'. Subash Chandra Bose said about Das,'The young Dadichee of the country comparing Das to the Indian sage Dadichee who gave up his life for noble cause'. After the death of Jatindra Nath Das the funeral session led by the other important fighter Durga Bhabi known as Durgawati Devi. Jatin Das sacrificed his life to the nation at the age of 24. Very young revolutionay is also one of the patriot in records. The Government of India released a postal stamp of Jatindra Nath in the year 1979. Indian history records filed this young freedom fighter to the whole world. Gave our salute this Bengal Revoutionary. Vande Mataram.
