Tantia Tope
A General in the Indian Rebellion -He is Tantia Tope. He was born Ramachandra Panduranga to a Maratha family and took title Tope. Tope meaning commanding officer Tantia meant Genaral. On 5 June 1857 Nana Sahib became the leader of rebells. British forces surrended on 25 June 1857 but massacred. Nana Sahib was declared as Peshwa. But British forces defeated the third battle against Sahib. Then Tantia Tope began to act in leader in Bithur. The company forces from Allahabad advanced towards Cawnpore. Two forces sent by Nana Sahib were defeated. After the defeat the Britishers were hungry. British forces attacked Bithur with cannons. In this attack Nana Sahibs young daughter Mynavati and some Indians were burned. 
After losing Gwalior to the British Tope and Rao Sahib fled in the Rajaputana. He was able to induce the army of Tonk to join him. British forces commanded by Colonel Homes. They attack between Sanganer an Bhilwara. Tope again fled from the field towards Udaipur. They were again defeated by Roberts forces and Topey fled. Tope then took his forces towards Indore with accompanied by Rao Sahib and more to Chanderi. However they combined against and suffered another defeat at Chota Udaipur. By January 1859 they were in state of Jaipur and experienced two more defeats. Tope then escaped alone into the jungles of Paron. Then he met Man Singh Raja of Narwar,
A personal atherant of Nana Sahib of Bithur he progressed with the Gwalior contingent after British occupied Kanpur and forced to retreat from the city. Later on he came to relief of Jhansi Rani and with her seized the city of Gwalior. However he defeated by General Naphiers British troops and after a further treat at Sikar abandoned the compaign. He was executed by the British government at Shivpuri on 18 April 1859. According to an official statement Tope was a man of middling stature. In an government letter he was said to be the Minister of Baroda while he was held identical to Nana Sahib in another communications. He was Nana Sahibs close associate General. Tantia Tope was one of the greatest leaders and legendary figure in the tempestuous happenings of the revolt 1857. The several struggle could make its impact only due to his leadership.
